President's Vision
Chitrangada Raje Singh
"Every person with a disability deserves the chance to be seen, heard, and included — not out of charity, but as a matter of right."

— Chitrangada Raje Singh President, Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children
Honoring a Visionary Legacy
The Delhi Society for the Welfare of Special Children (DSWSC) was founded in 1965, inspired by the pioneering vision of the late Smt. Yasho Rajya Laxmi. In an era with limited awareness and support systems, she recognized the urgent need for an integrated center where children with intellectual and developmental disabilities could receive education, therapy, and care — all under one roof.
Her belief was simple but profound: with patience, understanding, and support, every child can learn, grow, and lead a life of dignity.
Our Journey & Commitment
After Smt. Yasho Rajya Laxmi’s passing in 2009, I was honored to carry forward her mission. With the support of our executive committee, educators, therapists, and volunteers, we continue to build a nurturing, professional, and inclusive environment for our students and their families.

Our vision is not only to educate children — but to rehabilitate families, train professionals, and raise awareness across society.

A School That’s a World
For our children, the school is their entire world — a place of safety, routine, relationships, and joy. Here, they are understood and respected.

For our training students, it’s a place of transformation. Over two years, they grow into skilled, empathetic professionals ready to make a difference.
Building an Inclusive Future
The Yasho Rajya Laxmi Memorial Seminar, our annual knowledge-sharing platform, brings together therapists, educators, researchers, and families from institutions across India. It is one of the many ways we strengthen our ecosystem and honor our founder’s legacy.

“Working in the field of rehabilitation for nearly six decades, we strive to address every need — educational, emotional, physical, and vocational — to become a truly all-encompassing centre for our students.”
Let’s Continue the Journey
As we look to the future, we remain committed to breaking barriers, nurturing abilities, and building a society where every child can belong.
