Christmas Celebrations.

Yasho Rajya Lakshmi Memorial Seminar.

5th December, 2024

The DSWSC organized the annual YRL Seminar on “Intellectual Disability and Comorbidity” in memory of its former President, late Smt. Yasho Rajya Laxmi, at the India Islamic Cultural Centre. The seminar focused on understanding comorbidities with intellectual disabilities, parental reactions and acceptance post-diagnosis, and the importance of therapeutic interventions when parents actively participate in their child’s care.

The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Chitrangada Raje Singh, President of the Society. Esteemed speakers included Dr. Vineet Bhushan Gupta (Chief Guest & Pediatric Neurologist), Dr. Praveen Suman (Developmental Pediatrician), Mr. Anil Joshi (parent of a differently-abled child), and Dr. Mita Singhal (Occupational Therapist).

With an audience of around 300 rehabilitation professionals, special education students, and parents, the seminar was highly appreciated for its insights and strategies.

Special Olympics Bahart - Delhi Athletics State Championship.

20th December, 2024

10 students from our school proudly participated in the Special Olympics Bharat – Delhi Athletics State Championship 2024 at Delhi University Grounds, Mukherjee Nagar, competing in events like Run & Walk, Tennis & Soft Ball Throw, Standing Long Jump, Mini Javelin, and Shotput.

In the 16–21 years category:
Shubham Kala won Gold in the 100m race
Sachin Yadav won Silver in the 50m race and Bronze in the 200m
Shilpa secured Bronze in Standing Long Jump

In the 21+ years category:
Adeel won Silver in Shot Put
Aslam won Bronze in the 200m & 400m races
Monika secured Bronze in Standing Long Jump
Yogita won Bronze in Tennis Ball Throw

Cricket match.

15th December, 2024

The Neuroid and Research Foundation, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, organized an exciting Bilateral Wheelchair Cricket Match between the Delhi and Haryana state teams at Jamia Hamdard Cricket Grounds. 12 students from Okhla Centre, along with their parents and 3 staff members, were invited to witness the inspiring event. All students received mugs and refreshments, making it a memorable and motivating experience!

Sports Day organised by Parivartan Special School

12th December, 2024

13 students from our school participated in the Sports Day organized by Parivartan Special School at Safdarjung Enclave, showcasing their talent and sportsmanship. Our champions brought home 2 Gold medals (50m walk & run), 5 Silver medals (50m run, walk & tennis ball throw), and 3 Bronze medals (50m run & tennis ball throw). A proud moment of achievement and joy!

Run for Inclusion by Special Olympics Bharat.

What an inspiring morning! The Run for Inclusion, organized by Special Olympics Bharat, was a beautiful celebration of unity and the unique abilities within us all. 15 students and 45 TTI students from DSWSC Okhla Centre School came together with great enthusiasm, participating in an unforgettable run and crossing the finish line with pride and joyful smiles.

Eight students from our school participated in a lively dance performance organized by Escort Heart Institute. All participants were appreciated with a water bottle, lunch box, and refreshments, making it a joyful and memorable experience!

Dussehra Festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm! Students of the Senior Section, with the guidance of their Art Teacher, crafted an impressive effigy of Ravana, symbolizing the victory of good over evil and bringing the festive spirit alive on campus.

On the occasion of World Habitat Day 2024, the Building Material and Technology Promotion Council invited 20 heartfelt paintings by our special children on the theme “Engaging Youth to Create a Better Urban Future.” We’re proud to share that Subham Kala from the Senior Boys group won 3rd Prize, receiving a cheque of ₹3100 and a certificate at the prize distribution ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan.

Independence Day.

14th August, 2024

Independence Day was celebrated with pride and patriotism by the staff and students of the school. Naira, Aarav, and Vivaan had the honor of hoisting the National Flag in the presence of all. While space constraints didn’t allow for a cultural program, the spirit remained strong as everyone joined together to sing the National Anthem, filling the air with unity and pride.

On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, five of our students proudly took part in the 500-meter Friendship Walk towards Inclusion, organized by Muskan. Each participant received a certificate, T-shirt, medal, and refreshments — a celebration of friendship, acceptance, and the spirit of inclusion.

Ten students enthusiastically participated in the Painting and Dance Competition organized by Manovikas Charitable Trust, Delhi. Their creativity and energy lit up the event! All participants received gifts and certificates, making it a joyful and encouraging experience for everyone.

1st March, 2024

Eight students participated in the On the Spot Painting Competition organized by Very Special Arts, India. Given creative themes like Designing a Greeting Card, Tile Decoration, Saree Border, and Pattern Work Collage, our talented students showcased their artistic skills. The school proudly secured 2nd prize in Designing a Saree Border and a Consolation Prize in Tile Decoration.

Thirty-one students, along with TTI students, went on an educational and recreational visit to Amrit Udyan. The visit was filled with excitement, learning, and admiration for the beautiful gardens, creating lasting memories for everyone!

Six students participated in the Badminton State Games organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Kulachi Hansraj Model School, Ashok Vihar, Delhi. With great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, they gave their best on the court and made the school proud!

Ninety-two children enjoyed a fun-filled Goody-Bag Picnic at Children’s Park, organized by the Society for Child Development. The lively musical event with a DJ had everyone dancing and celebrating with joy. Students were treated to refreshments, making it a memorable and cheerful day for all!

Seven students participated in the Football State Championship organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Brahma Shakti Special School, Dwarka. Showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork, the boys' team clinched the Gold Medal along with a trophy, while the girls' team earned a proud Silver Medal — a remarkable achievement for our young athletes!

Eight students participated in the Volleyball State Competition organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Govt. Co-Ed Senior Secondary Boys School, Dwarka, New Delhi. Teaming up with students from other schools, our players showcased excellent teamwork and sportsmanship. The 18+ age group team won the Silver Medal, while the 22+ team brought home the Gold — a proud moment of achievement and unity!

Fifteen students enthusiastically participated in various events at Ability Utsav organized by Y.M.C.A, Nizamuddin, showcasing their creativity and talent in Rangoli, Best out of Waste, Flower Arrangement, Solo Singing, Group Dance, and Drawing & Painting. Our students shone brightly, winning 1st prize in Flower Arrangement, 2nd prize in Best out of Waste and Group Dance, and 3rd prize in Solo Singing — a celebration of ability, expression, and achievement!

Republic Day Celebration.

25th January, 2024

Republic Day was celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm at our school. The National Flag was hoisted by VTC boys and girls in the presence of TTI and school staff members. The celebration featured vibrant group dance and group song performances by school students, while TTI students filled the air with patriotic songs. The event concluded on a sweet note with distribution of sweets to all students and staff.

Eight students — four girls and four boys — proudly participated in the Bocce Competition organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Aanchal Special School, Chanakyapuri. All participants received T-shirts, refreshments, and certificates. The boys’ team clinched the Gold, while the girls’ team brought home the Silver, making it a day of joy, achievement, and unforgettable memories!
