Intensive Therapeutic Unit

It aims at providing Intensive Therapeutic, Educational and Behaviour intervention services to children with Special Needs. These children are between the age group of 3 to 18 years, at risk or having developmental delays, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated conditions of a severe kind. The purpose of intensive therapeutic services is not only to enhance the child’s development but also to help empower families to become effective supporters of their children’s overall growth and development.

The program for young children focuses on supporting a child’s motor, cognitive, social and emotional development. It also optimizes their potential skills and enhances the family wellness. This would be through therapeutic intervention, play, communication and regular follow ups. Getting help early can make a big difference in a child’s life. Parental training and counseling is an integral part of the program.

For adolescent children the program aims to make the child independent in generic skills to the best of his/her abilities. They are trained in Activities of Daily Living. They are provided with different therapies like Occupational/ Speech/ Physio according to their needs. They are also involved in recreational activities like Yoga, Sports, Art and Craft where they socialize with their peers. We work on improving their functional skills and coping with their challenging behaviours. At the same time the program also functions as a respite for the parents.

This program works as a mediator between the child and his environment. It helps him experience organize, understand and react better to the information received from the world around. Through this mediation he learns to develop a meaningful relationship with people and objects around and acquires various necessary communication skills. The program focuses on the child and the family together and the family remains an integral part of the program.
